Music of Valania
The Music of Faeland has a long history and has had a particularly strong influence upon the nation's modern music. Outside of Faeland, the country is often associated with traditional styles related to Irish and Breton, but Faelish music is in fact very diverse, reflecting the large cultural differences between regions. The canto style, for example, originated in the extreme north and northeast of the country from Catholic liturgical music; yet the music traditions of the northwest (regions such as the Dhíall) are centered around wind instruments and percussion; reflecting the Irish emigration to the region, whereas in the Midlands, folk songs and amateur, family-centered traditions survive due to isolated farmsteads.
